1) What is LPG /Autogas?
Liquid gas (also autogas or LPG (Liquefied petroleum gas) mentioned) one calls a
mixture from propane and butane. In addition, pure propane or pure butane can concern.
In place of liquid gas also frequently the term "propulsion gas" is used.
Liquid gas consists of easily liquefiable hydrocarbon connections (CmHn) with 3
or 4 carbon atoms. It can concern thereby around an individual connection or a mixture
of several connections.
- Non Toxic.
- Non Corrosive.
- Free of Lead.
2) Why should I change to LP Gas?
LP Gas is a viable alternative fuel that has a significantly reduced impact on our
environment. Smog and other chemical pollutants are choking our cities and motor
vehicle emissions are a heavy contributor to this pollution.
LP Gas powered vehicles contribute less, and in some cases, none of the following
harmful emissions:
- Carbon Monoxide.
- Methane.
- Sulphur Dioxide.
- Low Level Ozone.
- Unburned Hydrocarbons.
- Oxides of Nitrogen.
- Particulates.
LP Gas also reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Tests conducted by the Australian
LP Gas Association showed that a vehicle converted to LP Gas produced the following
reductions in emissions compared to a vehicle powered by Unleaded petrol:
- 62% reduction in Carbon monoxide emissions.
- 83% reduction in Hydrocarbon emissions.
- 65% reduction in emissions of oxides of Nitrogen.
3) How much I can save by converting to LP Gas?
One can save significantly and recover his cost of conversion in short time span.
for details try our Savings Calculator.
4) Can anyone service an LPG system?
No, only qualified and licensed LPG technicians can install service and repair LP
Gas systems.
5)Will converting to LP Gas effect my new car warranty?
Most major car manufacturers warranties will not be effected by the addition of
LPG. However, consult your dealer or manufacturer prior to going ahead with your
conversion.
6) Can all vehicles be converted to Autogas?
Almost any petrol vehicle can be converted to operate on Autogas/LPG. Cars with
carburetor as well as Multi Point Fuel Injection as well as cars with catalytic
converters car be used to operate on Autogas.
7) How safe is Autogas as a fuel?
Autogas is proven to be extremely safe automotive fuel worldwide. The Autogas
tanks/cylinders are made of high quality steel and reinforcement which do not crack-up
in case of accident. Propane tanks are manufactured from 4mm. thick steel. They
are resistant to deformation and puncture.
Also in case of leakage the gas escapes into the open air and does not remain in
the engine to catch fire. Also the LPG cylinders/tanks are placed horizontally in
a car and the adaptor allows the liquid to flow all the way upto the solenoid valves
before converting into gas. In case of an impact most quality solenoids close or
trip to avoid flow of fuel to the engine. Safety mainly depends on the quality of
components like the PRV, Solenoids etc. and the fitting. Also tanks valves are enclosed
in a air tight compartment (called 9 tank sub compartment) in case of leakage gas
leeks to outside of cabin not inside.
Moreover, a device called hydrostatic relief valve is generally placed on the gas
tank. This valve regulates the pressure of the gas within the tank and releases
the gas if there is a rare pressure build up. Also the tanks are filled to only
80% of the total capacity leaving enough scope of expansion due to temperature changes.
Also the tank device i.e. the "MULTIVALVE" has a pressure relief
valve.
8) What would be the affect on the engine?
Newer vehicles operating fuel injected engines and engine management systems experience
virtually no difference in performance between unleaded petrol and LP Gas.
A minor drop in power may be experienced in some vehicle applications however, this
will vary based on driving conditions, engine wear and fuel quality.
It is established that engines running on LPG last twice as
long as that on Petrol.
Tests and practical records maintained by LPG users have shown that piston, bearings
and rings last more than twice in LPG driven engines than petrol engines. Although
top end of engine can suffer some damage which can be over come normally by using
a VALVE Saver kit. If you have any questions relating to LP Gas or LP Gas conversions

Department
- Longer spark plug and oil life
- Increased engine smoothness
- No carbonation problems
9) What would happen if I run out of Gas?
No problem. These are duel fuel systems, i.e. you can switch over the car to Petrol
and vice -versa by means of a simple electronic switch instantly without even stopping
the car. The switch is conveniently located on the dashboard of the car.
10) Would the performance, top speed be the same as Petrol?
Tests show that cars on Autogas generate 10- 15% less power which
translated into 3% loss of top speed. This however is negligible and can be compensated
with proper tuning by advancing the ignition of the car and increasing the idling.
A proper conversion and tuning by an technical person would ensure that the car
performs almost the same as that to Petrol and no change is performance is noticeable.
11) How much time would the installation take?
The installation of the kit is quite precise. A proper job would take about
1-2 days depending depending of the type and condition of the car.
12) Would there be any changes to the car?
There would be no changes to the engine whatsoever and only minor changes to accommodate
tank filler wiring and some changes to intake system additional devices installed
with minimal drilling etc.
